Stafford Measures Up to QB Standard at Combine

Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford measured up to one important standard in the NFL.
Stafford was measured at 6 feet 2 and 7/8 at the Combine in Indianapolis on Thursday. He weighed 236. The measurements were reported on the NFL Network.
The Lions have the first overall pick, and Stafford obviously is under consideration by the Lions.
The height was important for Stafford. Anything under 6-2 would have been a concern, although there are exceptions. Michael Vick, drafted first overall by Atlanta in 2001, and Drew Brees, drafted on the second round by San Diego also in ’01, both were an even 6 feet.
Quarterbacks are scheduled to throw on Sunday. Stafford has said he will do most of the drills but will not throw until his Pro Day workout on Georgia’s campus next month.
