This week’s victims caught in the Rip Tide:

Rip 1 – Raburn-Colbert: Three dropped passes on Saturday night for Lions receiver Keary Colbert. Three errors the next day for the Tigers’ Ryan Raburn. If you’re diagnosed with a terminal illness and your guardian angel lets you watch one sports event to its conclusion before passing on, take Raburn vs. Colbert in singles handball. With their hands, the score could be eternal love. Move over, Methuselah.

Rip 2—Patrick Kane: The young hockey player made a brief, scripted apology Monday regarding his role in a fight which resulted in a Buffalo cab driver being assaulted.  Later Monday, after a hockey practice, Kane told reporters: “The only one who really knows (the whole story) is my lawyer and my family. Really? They weren’t present at the incident, either. All they know is what Kane told them.

Rip 3—Stephen Strasburg: The top pick in this year’s baseball draft got $15.5 million to sign with Washington Monday night. So the top pick goes to baseball’s worst team and worst franchise. More money wasted in Washington.

Rip 4 – Favre bashers: Everyone says training camp and the exhibition season is too long. So why bash Brett Favre for skipping all of camp and most of the exhibition season while deciding to play for the Vikings?
