Nats’ Phenom Strasburg to Face Tigers in June?

The thrower with the golden arm who has my attention today isn’t Lions QB Matthew Stafford.
Stephen Strasburg, the pitching phenom on the verge of being called up from the minors to join the Washington Nationals rotation, is the man in the crosshairs.
Maybe – just maybe – Strasburg will pitch when the Tigers host the Nats in a three-game series, June 15-17 at Comerica Park.
The dates and stars have to line up for Detroit fans to see Strasburg live – perhaps for the only time in a decade, thanks to interleague play.
According to multiple reports, the Nationals have targeted a three-game series at Pittsburgh June 8-10 for Strasburg to make his major league debut.
After the Pittsburgh series, the Nationals play three games in Cleveland June 11-13 before heading to Detroit and then Chicago.
When Strasburg pitches in Pittsburgh likely will determine if he is available to throw in Detroit. If he pitches on June 8, his next appearance could be in Cleveland on June 13, with four days of rest. Any other day in the Pittsburgh series would make Strasburg available to pitch against the Tigers.
Tigers management has to be holding its collective breath that Strasburg will pitch in Detroit. Otherwise, the Nationals aren’t much of a draw, even though they’ve surprisingly been around the .500 level this season.

This kid better deliver big-time when he gets to the show. He’s been so hyped up already, it’s going to be hard for him to meet such lofty expectations. I’ll be rooting for him!
